Who says spring is only for flower viewing

I insist on going to see the sea 🌊 📍: Aewol-eup 🚌: Bus route 202 is the best choice 🎫: 2,400 KRW (for two people) ⚠️: After 5 PM, there are more people returning, so you might not be able to get on the bus. Plan your time wisely. Aewol-eup is located on the west coast of Jeju Island. Rather than calling it a tourist attraction, it's more like a coastal area. Because of its numerous coffee shops, many tourists consider it an ideal spot for lazy travelers to check in. Aewol-eup is quite large, and I can't really say where the starting or ending point is. From downtown, I highly recommend taking the 🚌. The journey isn't as long as you might imagine. There are many stops along the way, but the driver won't stop unless passengers are getting on or off, so our one-hour bus ride took less than 50 minutes. Take bus 202 to Hamdomdong (there will be English announcements). After getting off, walk forward a bit until you reach a downhill slope. Go straight down and you'll see the famous "jelly sea," which is more of a jade-blue color. Since my trip to Nice, I've rarely seen such blue waters. The weather wasn't on our side, with waves crashing one after another, and all I could think was "surfing in this weather must be amazing!" Walking east along the coastline, you'll pass a stretch of black reef rocks that look like chocolate chips broken by giants (the blackness of these rocks rivals those at Seopjikoji 🌚). With the biting wind and rolling waves, my collar was already filled with damp, cold air—it truly felt like being caught by the sea's grip. Some say Aewol-eup is just a "pretty cafe Instagram spot." Others say it's not suitable to visit on cloudy days. Weather is beyond our control, and both cloudy and sunny days have their own surprises. Rather than posing with coffee for perfect grid photos, spending time watching the waves stirred up by the sea breeze is much more interesting.

Aewol Coast Road

Jeju, South Korea - Aewol Handam Walking Path: A White, Greek-Style Coastal Gift Shop Besides the endless blue and sea breeze, the walking path of Aewol Handam hides a pure white surprise—a gift shop that looks like it's been transported from an Aegean island. The exterior, pure white as snow, with clean lines and curved window frames, gleams warmly in the sunlight. From afar, it looks like a miniature Santorini, Greece, set on the Jeju coast. As you approach, the contrast between the white walls and the blue sea is so striking that you can't help but want to capture every angle. Inside, you'll find a display of Jeju-style handmade items, accessories in seaside hues, and scented candles with the aroma of the island. The sea breeze outside, carrying the scent of the waves, creates the illusion of traveling to an exotic town. This place is more than just a place to buy souvenirs; it's also a romantic stop on your stroll.

Jeju's Aewol Handam Coastal Walkway: Feel the Sea Breeze and Enjoy the Ocean

Jeju, South Korea: Aewol Handam Coast: A Collection of Ocean Colors from Unique Cafes Aewol Handam Coast is a stretch of Jeju Island where the sky and the horizon meet. The sea here is layered in blue: a sun-lit turquoise near the shore, a deep, tranquil indigo in the distance. Along the coastal highway, unique cafes are scattered like shells, each window a painting of the sea. I walked into the first cafe and ordered a pour-over. The aroma of the coffee blended with the salty taste of the sea breeze outside, creating a uniquely Jeju atmosphere. The dark base of the cup echoed the blue of the sea. Moving to another cafe, the second-floor balcony extended out to the sea. The wooden railings, slightly roughened by the sea breeze, were particularly charming. The shop displayed a variety of handmade ceramic cups, each irregularly shaped, like stone polished by the waves.
