The only fortress of this architectural style still standing in the world today

Spanish Pyrenees Hike ~ Huesca (Region) Also known as the "Castle of Jaca", it was built between the 16th and 17th centuries by order of King Felipe II and restored in 1968. Engineer Spanozzi followed military building codes derived from the use of artillery, and it is the only fortress of this architectural style still standing in the world today. It has a pentagonal plan with an arrow-shaped bastion at each corner and a moat that now serves as a resting place for deer. Its drawbridge leads to the parade ground, around which are scattered barracks.
