We woke up in Trastevere, with shutters cracked open to let in the early Roman sun ☀️🪟 and the scent of baking bread from downstairs 🥖🍞. The cobblestones glistened from the morning wash, and the alleyways echoed with the rumble of vespas 🛵 and church bells tolling faintly in the distance 🔔. First stop? A tiny corner bar where we sipped espresso standing up ☕️ — rich, bitter, perfect — and shared a still-warm maritozzo, stuffed with cream 🍩🤍. The city felt half-asleep, glowing. From there, we crossed the Ponte Sisto over the Tiber River 🌉, the water shimmering in the morning light ✨. We could see the Colosseum from the top, standing proud and a little battered 🏟️ — timeless. Lunch was at a tucked-away trattoria nearby: homemade ravioli stuffed with ricotta and lemon zest 🍋🧀, drizzled with sage butter, and a chilled glass of Frascati wine 🍷🍇. Musicians played near the Trevi Fountain 🎻🎶, where we tossed coins and made wishes under the sparkle of flowing water ✨💦. Dinner was a candlelit affair in Monti: cacio e pepe so good it silenced us 🍝🖤, paired with a smoky red from Lazio.
