It is one of the largest Turkish national buildings in Istanbul and represents an important stage in the development of Turkish architecture. The mosque was built in 1463 by order of Mehmed II on the site of the former Church of the Holy Apostles of the Byzantine Empire, which had become a ruin due to the Fourth Crusade. It also symbolizes the complete victory of the Ottoman Empire over the Byzantine Empire. The entire mosque is magnificent and its interior decoration is very unique, making it very suitable for taking photos. Remember not to wear shorts or skirts when visiting. The toilets in the mosque are free to use. There are food markets around, you can go shopping there too.
