Enjoy a stylish lunch at "Haikarasan" in Okage Yokocho, Ise.

My mother and I went to Ise for the first time. While we were walking around Okage Yokocho, we came across this restaurant called "Haikara-san." It's a lovely Western-style building, and upon investigation, we found that it is modeled after the Moroto-tei building in Kuwana City. (The Moroto-tei building was designed by Josiah Conder, the same architect as the Rokumeikan guesthouse.) We sat down surrounded by the interior design of a Western-style building, with chandeliers, bay windows, and decorative ceilings, as if we had traveled back in time to the era of civilization and enlightenment. The view from the second floor overlooking Okage Yokocho was beautiful. We ordered: Matsusaka beef steak and rice (with salad and soup) ¥1850. The tender and juicy Matsusaka beef steak was well seasoned and very delicious. The flavor of the meat went well with the rice, and we couldn't stop eating.
