"City of Water and Light"

One of the southernmost cities in the world. Numerous heritage buildings give the city a charming old world. It is also called the city of water and light due to it’s long summer daylight hours and frequent appearance of the Aurora Australis (Southern Lights), and the city's position beside the Waihōpai River estuary. However i did not have such luck as it was cloudy and drizzling days during my visits. Driving into the city, you will be greeted by the Troopers War Memorial Let starts with the Queen Park- A 80 hectares of beautifully kept gardens, wildlife habitats, playgrounds and sports areas. You can stroll in the evening after a meal or just having a quiet time being alone. Shop the Invercargill Central, a 3 storey Malls with all the shops located on the first floor and second floor occupied by a cinema. On the first floor, you can easily fill up your tummy with cuisine from Japan, Korea, Indian , Pizza or just having a Burgers, fries and onion rings. Thereafter to have a cup of coffee and cakes at Starsbuck or Majestic. There is also two mobile carts selling donuts and cakes which if you have sweet tooth. The rest of the higher levels are reserved for carparks. Next take a trip down memory lane at Bill Richardson Transport World, where they have the largest private collection of vintage vehicles in the world. Housed in over 15,000sqm of exquisite "sheds" are over 250 vehicles. Accommodation- There are budget hostel, Tuatara Lodge, mid price Kelvin Hotel and Grand Hotel to slightly expensive one at The Langlandi Hotel to suit your taste buds.
