INDONESIA - more than just Bali

When you meet somebody who has been to Indonesia he or she will tell you about Bali, maybe the Gili Islands or at the max Lombok „Mainland“ or Komodo & Flores. But there are so many more Islands to discover! In the west part under Malaysia you can find the beautiful Sumatra, meet the king of the jungle - 🐅 the tiger or visit one of the last places on earth to encounter orangutans in the wild 🦧& at the very tip lays a tiny island called 📍Pulau Weh, about which I want to tell you a bit. 🏝️The island is lush and the greenest „jungeliest“ I have seen so far on my travels. It is an undiscovered beauty where only a few tourists (mainly divers) make it to. You can also find the kilometre zero on the tip of this little gem. Next to the rural jungle awaits you crystal clear water 🌊- but be aware, as it boosts really strong currents! But that‘s what it makes a paradise for experienced divers. Come to find schools of Mobulas, other Rays and Pelagics as well as a pristine Reefs 🪸 with boosting Marine Life which just comes back more & more after the big Tsunami in 2004. Look out for Critters, like Frogfish, Cometfish, Blue Ring Octopus or Mantis Shrimps - but careful, don’t put your camera to close, this little guy is smashing its victims' shells (or your lens) with the force of a .22 caliber bullet. Also beginners can enjoy a few sites, but spots like Arus Balee (Translates to Bastard Current) are only recommended for more skilled divers. The currents can change so fast, that they create an „washing machine“-effect.
