Tea Sage Lu Yu and Qingtang Villa

On the bank of the Tiao River, opposite the East Wu Kaiyuan Mingdu Hotel, lies a hidden, tranquil spot worth visiting—the former site of Lu Yu's Qingtang Villa. On the newly built earthen hill beside the site, the Sangzhi Pavilion built by later generations is simple yet elegant. Lu Yu once called himself "Sangzhi Elder," and this pavilion's name pays homage to him. Visitors can climb the steps to the pavilion and enjoy the panoramic view of the Tiao River while feeling the pleasant breeze on their faces. The stone-carved wall next to Qingtang Villa is equally captivating, engraved with rich knowledge of tea culture and stories of Lu Yu's life, each stroke embodying a thousand years of tea heritage. A stroll here takes only 15 to 30 minutes, yet offers an immersive experience of Huzhou's deep connection with Lu Yu and tea, allowing you to touch the warmth of history and culture amid the fragrance of tea and the charm of calligraphy.
