“White clouds rise over distant peaks, swaying into the clear sky.” It was only when I stood on the Dahai Caoshan in Huize that I truly understood the beauty of this verse. The clouds over Caoshan are like lively spirits between heaven and earth. They slowly rise from the distant mountains, drifting gently into the clear blue sky, free and light. Their shapes are ever-changing—sometimes like fluffy cotton, quietly spread against the blue backdrop; sometimes like flowing ribbons, winding and stretching over the mountain tops, harmonizing with the rolling meadows. Standing atop Caoshan, as far as the eye can see is an endless green carpet. The meadows rise and fall with the terrain, like the earth’s breath—soft yet powerful. A gentle breeze stirs the grass waves in layers, and the shadows of clouds wander among the grass, light and dark interweaving, as if playing a natural symphony. Here, time slows down. Watching the clouds roll and unfold, feeling the warmth of sunlight filtering through the clouds onto your skin, hearing the rustling of grass leaves, and occasionally the sound of wind and birdsong, your body and mind seem cleansed. People either stroll through the grass or sit quietly to enjoy the view, becoming one with this land. Huize Dahai Caoshan weaves the poetry of clouds and the vitality of grass into a captivating painting. Every sway of a cloud, every inch of growing grass tells the story of nature’s gentleness and grandeur. Once you’ve been here, it’s hard to forget this beauty that seeps from your eyes into your heart.
