Iceland Winter Guide ❄️ Experience the Northern Lights, Black Sand Beach and Glacier Lagoon!

This trip to Iceland allowed me to fully experience the magnificence and mystery of nature. From the aurora to the glaciers and black sand beaches, every moment was amazing! Here are some travel highlights and practical information to help you easily experience the beauty of Iceland. ✨ 📍 1. Aurora Miracle — Garður Old Lighthouse 📍 Location: Garður Old Lighthouse (north of Reykjavik city) 💰 Cost: Completely free! No need to sign up for the Aurora tour ✅ Experience: I was very lucky that day and saw the spectacular Aurora here. The green light bands danced in the sky. Compared with the Aurora tour, you can just look up and see it here. Recommended to friends who want to save money and experience the charm of the Aurora! 🌊 2. The contrast between ice and fire — Diamond Beach 📍 Location: Next to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon 💰 Cost: Free ✅ Experience: Glacier fragments washed ashore with the tide, sparkling on the black volcanic beach, really like diamonds scattered all over the ground! Wearing gloves is recommended as the ice is really cold! If you come here in winter, the sunlight refracted on the ice is even more beautiful, and the photos are beyond the picture 📸. 🏝️ 3. Mysterious Black Sand Beach - Reynisfjara 📍 Location: South Coast 💰 Cost: Free ✅ Experience: Iceland's most famous black sand beach, the black fine sand comes from volcanic lava, and the basalt columns along the coastline are like a natural palace. The wind is very strong, so be sure to wear a thick coat! You can listen to the sound of the waves quietly here, which is very healing. ❄️ 4. Glacier Wonders — Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon 📍 Location: Glacier Lagoon 💰 Cost: Free (additional fee required for glacier boat tour) ✅ Experience: The glaciers here are so blue that they are unreal, like a scene from the movie “Interstellar”. The ice floes drift slowly and you can even see seals swimming! The glaciers sparkle like sapphires under the sun. You must come here when you come to Iceland! 💦 5. Spectacular waterfall - Skogafoss 📍 Location: South Coast of Iceland 💰 Cost: Free ✅ Experience: In winter, Skogafoss looks like a huge ice sculpture, with part of the water frozen and a rainbow visible under the sunlight! The ground near the waterfall is frozen, so it is recommended to wear non-slip shoes. Standing in front of the waterfall will really shock you by the power of nature! 🚗 Transportation For this trip, I signed up for a one-day tour in Iceland, which saved me the trouble of driving myself and allowed a professional tour guide to take me to the most beautiful places. The road conditions in Iceland are more dangerous in winter. If you are not familiar with driving, it is recommended to join a local tour group directly (there are also many options on Trip.com). 📝 Travel Tips ✅ Best time to view the Aurora: September to April, 10pm to 2am ✅ Dressing Tips: Iceland is very windy in winter, remember to wear a windproof and waterproof jacket, wool underwear, thick socks, and gloves are also a must! ✅ Daylight hours: The daylight hours are short in winter, it gets light at 11 am and dark at 3 pm, so be careful when planning your trip!
