Local Tours|Hong Kong Palace Museum|Special Exhibitions|Treasures from the Palace Museum and Louvre in Beijing

#HongKongPalaceMuseum officially opened in early July. Of course, I had to take time to visit it. I bought tickets online in advance. Special exhibition tickets (including standard tickets of HK$50) are HK$120 per adult. With the ticket, you can visit all nine exhibition halls, including the special exhibitions in Halls 1 to 7, and the special exhibitions in Halls 8 and 9. In the hot weather, Wof chose to take the green minibus CX1 from Exit E of Kowloon MTR Station to the Forbidden City, with a fare of 4 yuan. After getting off the bus, take the escalator up one floor and follow the signs to the main entrance. The main entrance, which imitates the vermilion gate of the Forbidden City, attracts many people to check in. Wof's guide is to first visit two special exhibitions that require an additional fee. The first stop is Exhibition Hall 9 on the fourth floor. As soon as you enter the exhibition hall, you will see the huge ink painting "Lion Jade", which is a collection of the Palace Museum in Beijing. The exhibition "Riding the World: Horse Culture and Art" in Hall 9 is themed on horses as the name suggests. The horse head, which is believed to be an ornament on the throne of the Sassanid monarch in the 4th century, is an unearthed cultural relic from the Louvre Museum. There are a total of 13 exhibits from the Louvre Museum, one of which is a plate with Poseidon calming the wind and waves produced in Italy in 1543. Seahorses and Pegasus are common ridge beasts on the Forbidden City palaces during the Qing Dynasty. In addition to their structural functions, they also have the meaning of protecting peace. After visiting Hall 9, go to the observation deck on the fourth floor to enjoy the beautiful sea view under the blue sky. The visibility was quite high that day and the Stonecutters Bridge could be seen from a distance. The next stop is Exhibition Hall 8 on the third floor. The exhibition "National Treasures: Paintings and Calligraphy from the Jin, Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasties in the Palace Museum" has carefully selected thirty first-class national cultural relics and paintings and calligraphy works. The exhibition will be divided into three phases, each lasting one month, with ten treasures on display each time. The second phase of exhibits was put on display in early August. Wang Xizhi's "Letter After the Rain" collected by Emperor Qianlong is the focus of the first exhibit. Since the original calligraphy of Wang Xizhi no longer exists, the exhibit is a copy from the Song Dynasty. Enjoy the scenery of the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hall 8. Museums are a good choice in hot weather. Continue to appreciate other calligraphy and painting works. "Flower Basket" is a work by Li Song, a painter from the Southern Song Dynasty. Before the Song Dynasty, flower paintings were not as valued as figures, landscapes and other subjects. The status of flower paintings gradually improved during the Northern and Southern Song Dynasties. The "Four Purities" exhibited at the Hong Kong Palace Museum is only the second half of the original work. The first half is now kept in a museum in the United States. After this visit, Wolf has a deeper understanding of the seals and inscriptions on Chinese calligraphy and paintings. #hkblogger #HongKongFeatures #HongKongAttractions #LocalTourism #HongKongGoodPlaces #HolidayGoodPlaces
