New Exhibition at Hong Kong Science Museum Showcases National Achievements in Aerospace, Aviation, and Maritime Fields

The exhibition "Bank of China (Hong Kong) Presents: National Development Achievements Series – Endless Exploration: China’s Aerospace, Aviation, and Maritime," jointly organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the China National Space Administration, is being held at the Hong Kong Science Museum from August 1 to September 7. This is the first exhibition in Hong Kong to simultaneously showcase the nation’s achievements in these three major fields. Through a rich collection of physical objects, models, graphics, videos, and interactive exhibits, it not only introduces important developments in these areas but also aims to inspire the public, especially young people, to foster enthusiasm for technological innovation and strengthen national confidence in science and technology. This exhibition sets several "firsts," including the first time in Hong Kong that lunar soil samples collected by Chang’e 5 and Chang’e 6 from the near side and far side of the moon are displayed together. Other exhibits making their debut in Hong Kong include the Chang’e 6 return capsule and parachute, seawater samples from a 10,000-meter deep dive, and the "Three Pearls" of the shipbuilding industry: models of an aircraft carrier, a luxury cruise ship, and a large liquefied natural gas carrier. Additionally, the Hong Kong Science Museum is showcasing multiple large-scale aerospace, aviation, and maritime models for the first time in one venue. These include a 1:5 scale, approximately 12-meter-tall Long March 5 carrier rocket displayed outdoors, a life-size, about 10-meter-long model of the "Fendouzhe" full-ocean-depth manned submersible, and a 1:8 scale model of the "Y-20" large transport aircraft with a wingspan of about 6 meters exhibited inside the hall. Besides exhibits from the Mainland, the exhibition also highlights the significant contributions of Hong Kong scientists to national space exploration and deep-sea research. Interactive exhibits such as the "Lunar Base" and "Zhurong Rover Adventure" allow visitors to experience the challenges of building a lunar base and exploring Mars. From August 9 to September 7, guided tours will be available every Saturday and Sunday. The Hong Kong Science Museum will also host a series of events, including expert lectures on August 1 and August 4, inviting Mainland experts to share knowledge on aviation, aerospace, and maritime topics, as well as the nation’s achievements and future plans in these fields. The public can join these guided tours and lectures on-site. Additionally, there will be experimental classes, workshops, and science demonstrations to help the public explore the scientific principles behind flight and deep-sea diving. The exhibition is jointly organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the China National Space Administration’s News and Publicity Center, with exclusive sponsorship from Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. It is part of a series of activities promoting Chinese culture. For more details about the exhibition and related events, please visit the Hong Kong Science Museum website.
