Hong Kong Dragon's Back Hiking: Encounter Stunning Coastal Scenery

Hong Kong's Dragon's Back has been recognized by Time Magazine as Asia's best urban hiking trail and is highly recommended by Lonely Planet as one of Asia's most beautiful urban hiking routes. With moderate difficulty and breathtaking views, it is an excellent choice for beginners. Route Planning The full trail is approximately 8.5 kilometers, but you can opt for a shorter 5-kilometer section. Starting from To Tei Wan Station, follow the signs uphill to reach the summit viewing platform in about an hour. Along the way, you'll pass popular spots like Shek O Peninsula, Tai Tam Bay, and Red Hill Peninsula. Upon reaching Shek O Peak, you can enjoy panoramic views of Shek O Village and Tai Tau Chau. Continuing forward, you'll see the exposed ridge resembling a dragon's spine, eventually arriving at the Dragon's Back viewing platform, where you can take in a 360-degree view of the stunning coastal scenery. Transportation Guide • From Shenzhen: Cross the border at Luohu or Futian Port, take the MTR East Rail Line to Admiralty Station, transfer to the Island Line to Shau Kei Wan Station, exit via A2 or A3, and take Bus No. 9 to To Tei Wan Station. • From other areas in Hong Kong: Take the Island Line to Shau Kei Wan Station, transfer to Bus No. 9; or from Sai Wan Ho Station, take Minibus Route 14 to Tai Tam Reservoir Station; or from Chai Wan Station, take Minibus Route 16/16x to the trail junction. Tips • Prepare for sun protection by bringing high-SPF sunscreen, a sun hat, etc. • Wear long-sleeved clothing to avoid mosquito bites. • Bring sufficient drinking water and high-energy snacks, as there are few supply points along the trail. • Avoid visiting during bad weather, weekends, or public holidays.
