In the Tang Dynasty, it underwent major renovations and was renamed Dayun Temple. Later, during the reign of Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty, it was renamed Baiyun Temple, and in the Ming Dynasty, it reverted to Lingdu Temple. Over the centuries, Lingdu Temple has evolved into a place that blends Buddhist and Taoist traditions. Together with Tuen Mun's Tsing Shan Monastery (now known as Tsing Shan Temple) and Ling Wan Monastery, Lingdu Temple is one of Hong Kong's three major ancient temples. Additionally, Lingdu Temple is a branch of Tsing Shan Monastery. Despite its thousand-year history, it is well-maintained. This small temple exudes a scholarly atmosphere. On public holidays, it attracts many visitors, including cyclists and hikers. Nearby, there are public restrooms and free water supplies, making it a convenient stop for travelers. It also serves as the endpoint or starting point of the famous hiking route, Cup Ling Shuangdu.
