Savor the human-cat relationship in a small community shop just a stone's throw away, allowing passengers to experience a healing moment The "MTR Art" gallery located at Exit J of Central MTR Station will exhibit "THE COMMEOWNITY" Cat Shopkeeper from March 4th. The heartwarming photography exhibition captures the life of the famous "cat store manager" through the "Street CATography" moderator Jonas Chan, distributing spiritual "cat" soup to bring healing moments to passengers in their busy schedule. The MTR Corporation has also specially partnered with "dayday330" to encourage everyone to record the little happiness in life through spiritual cards and spread positive energy. The "MTR‧Art" gallery at Central Station is located in a financial hub, surrounded by commercial buildings. Just two stations away is the old community full of human touch - Sai Ying Pun. The exhibition is designed based on the elements of neighborhood shops, fully showcasing the characteristics of these traditional communities. The cat store manager can be found in all four cute themed areas of the "Cute Community" photography exhibition, including being a goodwill ambassador to greet diners at the "Cute Tea Restaurant"; guarding the "Super Cute Seafood Street" against the army of rats stealing food; and sitting in the "Cute Grocery Store" to stretch leisurely and show off his cute sleeping posture. Visitors can follow the footsteps of the cat shop manager in the exhibition gallery to savor the human-cat relationship of the old neighborhoods; they can also happily check in in front of the giant cat mural. Jonas Chan, who was responsible for photographing and planning the photography exhibition, had his work selected for the "2019 National Geographic Travel Photo Contest". These photos feature cats living in community shops across Hong Kong, capturing their daily interactions with neighbors. Jonas said: "During the filming process, I found that the cat shop owners on the streets quietly connected the community. Passersby would stop to chat and play with them. Because of the cats, I started chatting with the shop owners and the neighbors passing by. I followed the traces of cats through the lens, and also felt the warmth of the city and saw the human side of Hong Kong." Ms. Chua Siu Mien, Director of Corporate Affairs and Branding of MTR Corporation, said, “MTR is not only a major public transport linking different districts in Hong Kong, but also connects the community and brings people closer together. This photo exhibition shows the warm feelings of the cat shopkeepers with the shopkeepers, neighbours and tourists inside and outside the shop, which together form a unique living atmosphere of the community and a unique landscape of urban life. We welcome everyone to visit the ‘MTR‧Art’ gallery at Exit J of Central Station, stop for a while in the busy life, appreciate the photos, relax and feel the warmth of the moment.” In addition, MTR has collaborated with the public mental health promotion event "dayday330" under the non-profit organization New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association to launch three "Meow Meow Spiritual Cards" with the healing image of the cat store manager as the theme, accompanied by heartwarming and positive words, to give everyone a bowl of positive energy spiritual "meow" soup. We encourage everyone to stop at the gallery during their MTR journey, enjoy a moment of quiet contemplation (a short break for body, mind and spirit at 330), and record the little happiness in life through spirit cards to inject positive energy into themselves. This time, the "Cute Community" project has been extended to Sai Ying Pun in the Central and Western District. We have invited nine cat shop managers from the district's small shops to meet everyone in the form of cute and mischievous illustrations! Through the "Love Cat Map" in the exhibition, you can get to know the cat shop owners adjacent to Dried Seafood Street more deeply. They will also be transformed into limited edition eco-friendly bags, stickers and "Meow Meow Heart Cards", which will be distributed in limited quantities by MTR mascot "Tietz" and nine participating shops. The "Community of Love" photography exhibition will be held at the "MTR Art" Gallery in Central Station from March 4 to June 30, 2025.
