The Historical Origins and Cultural Development of the New Territories Heritage Trail

The Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail in Fanling is one of two self-guided trails in the New Territories, the other being the Ping Shan Heritage Trail in Yuen Long. This trail is over two kilometers long and winds through the Lung Yeuk Tau area, which was a settlement of the Tang clan from Jiangxi in the late 13th century. The area includes several heritage sites, such as a church, temples, ancestral halls, and numerous walled village entrance towers. The sight of green brick walls and glazed tiles will make you feel like you've traveled back to the Qing Dynasty. Some of these sites have been designated as statutory monuments in Hong Kong.
