A Traditional Hotpot in San Po Kong

After being on a business trip up north for more than half a month, the thing I missed most upon returning to Hong Kong was having hotpot! The broth of Hong Kong-style hotpot remains my favorite. First, I ordered a large glass of iced lemon Coke, which was incredibly refreshing! The broth was a fish maw and abalone winter melon pot, pre-ordered by a friend who knows me well! The large abalone and sea cucumber on top of the winter melon were already very enticing even before tasting. The winter melon pot needs to be cooked for a while after being served. Once it's hot and the broth starts boiling, the waiter will help cut open the winter melon. But first, you have to sip the delicious broth. It's sweet, nourishing, and warms the stomach. The handmade three-treasure balls include shrimp balls, dace fish balls, and pork balls. Since they are homemade, you can tell they are packed with ingredients. The pork balls are mixed with preserved vegetables, the dace fish balls have dried shrimp, and the shrimp balls have fragrant green onions, each with its own unique flavor and a bouncy texture. The small Angus beef slices are a must-have companion for hotpot. Although not thickly cut, they are flavorful. The sliced beef is thicker, with a stronger beef flavor and a smoother texture, making it very delicious. The chive dumplings are large and plump, with eight big pieces per serving, filled with chives and a generous amount of stuffing. The crispy fish skin and fried bean curd rolls were a pleasant surprise. Freshly fried, the fish skin was large and crispy, and the bean curd rolls were crunchy. Each bite was crispy and enjoyable, perfect for hotpot. Lastly, the three-mushroom platter and romaine lettuce were also plentiful. How can you have hotpot without vegetables? Although the location is a bit far, this place has been standing in San Po Kong for many years with a loyal customer base. Plus, there's no extra charge for tea, pickles, or soy sauce, making it a well-loved establishment in the area.
