Come to the second section of the MacLehose Trail ⛰️ to see the stunning sea of Hong Kong, known as the Maldives of Hong Kong, and enjoy a well-deserved reputation. The MacLehose Trail is divided into ten sections, with a total length of 100km🏃. It stretches from Sai Kung to Tuen Mun, almost traversing the entire New Territories and Kowloon area. Our hiking trip starts from Tap Mun Island, taking a speedboat 🚤 directly to the Chek Keng Pier ⛵️, and then hiking back through the second section of the MacLehose Trail. ⛳️ Hiking Route (One Day): 🕐 12km in total, estimated 5h Tap Mun Pier ➡️ Chek Keng Pier ➡️ Tai Long Au ➡️ Tai Long Village ➡️ Ham Tin Wan (campsite available for camping ⛺️) ➡️ Sai Wan Campsite ➡️ Chui Tung Au ➡️ Sai Wan Village ➡️ Sai Wan Pavilion ➡️ Take a taxi 🚖 back to the city (University Station) 🚍 How to get there from Guangzhou and Shenzhen (Pearl River Delta cities): After crossing the border, take the MTR to Sha Tin Station. Below the New Town Plaza is the bus terminal, where you can find bus 289R (available on weekends, every half hour) to start the hike at Pak Tam Au. You can download the 'KMB.LWB' app to check bus schedules and arrival times. 🚌 After reaching Sai Wan Beach, walk for another hour along the route to reach the village bus terminal, and take it to Sai Kung Pier. There are lots of seafood to eat here, or you can take a bus back to the central area of Hong Kong to eat, which is very convenient for crossing the border or just wandering around. 📒 Our choice for the day: Take a taxi 🚖 from Sai Wan Pavilion, after returning to University Station, head to Tai Po Market 🍜 to feast on seafood. The food is affordable and good quality, and it's a market that Fa Ge loves to visit, with Dong Kee noodles 🍜/fried chicken wings, Lam Kee dim sum 🥧... super delicious!!! Tips: ✔️ There are more supply points in the second half of the trail, with more open on weekends and fewer on weekdays, mostly cash only. ✔️ Be sure to go on a sunny day, the glassy sea is too beautiful, but good weather also requires caution against heatstroke🥵, remember to bring Ten Drops Water & Huoxiang Zhengqi Water. ✔️ Ham Tin Wan has On Kee Store and Sea Breeze Store for simple meals. Ham Tin Wan Beach and Sai Wan Beach both have white sandy beaches, clear water, fine sand, flat beaches, and swings, making them very suitable for playing in the water and zoning out. ✔️ Both beaches 🏖️ are great camping ⛺️ spots. If you plan to stay overnight, you can bring your own camping gear, or rent it from the store for about 200+ Hong Kong dollars. ✔️ Prepare at least 2L of water, physical & chemical sun protection products, and do not recommend going on cloudy days as the mud roads are prone to landslides.
