#Dawan District Must-visit Check-in Points The predecessor of Green Hub Academy was Tai Po Police Station built in 1899. It is the first police station and police headquarters in the New Territories. It is also the oldest existing police station in the New Territories. It consists of the main building, staff quarters and canteen building, which are connected by a lawn. It is a statutory monument in Hong Kong. Under the “Revitalising Historic Buildings Partnership Scheme”, this place was revitalised into Green Hub Academy in 2015. Visitors can enjoy vegetarian meals made from local ingredients, take part in nature workshops, and learn about the history of the area through exhibits and guided tours. The original facilities in the police station, such as the detention room, gun room, dormitory and parade drill ground, are all well preserved. Green Hub Academy promotes the concept of sustainable living and was awarded the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Cultural Heritage Conservation Honorary Award in 2016. It is a classic example of revitalizing historical buildings and is worth a visit.
