Taste Shanghainese cuisine @ Purple Magnolia

Shanghai cuisine has always been my favorite cuisine and I never get tired of it! This time, I went to a Shanghai restaurant in Central with my friends and tasted many carefully prepared Shanghai dishes. I would like to share this rich delicacy with you all! The restaurant is the Magnolia located in the Central Exchange Square. The interior environment is simple and stylish, yet it exudes a magnificent atmosphere and is very comfortable to sit in. I was starving and was about to be late, so I started eating as soon as I sat down! The first dish to be served was the Shanghai-style cold dish of Amaranthus and Pomegranates, priced at $108/5. It was presented in an elegant floral arrangement, and the presentation was very delicate. The nutritious tofu skin was wrapped with Amaranthus shredded into the shape of pomegranates. It was a healthy delicacy with a rich taste and a refreshing fragrance. Qiuxiang preserved egg, pork floss and tofu $108 is perfect for summer. The sweet and fragrant soft preserved egg paired with tender tofu and salty and fragrant pork floss is always a perfect match. The next local soup is called Hometown Rice Amaranth Fresh Fish Soup, priced at $75 per person. The fish soup is made with minced fish and shredded vegetables in the soup. It has a pleasing color and tastes fresh and delicious. It is so delicious that it is easy to finish a bowl. Next up is the Magnolia Roast Duck, which is full of Huaiyang flavor, at $498 per piece. A set of roast duck comes with mother-in-law skin, perilla leaves, avocado, cantaloupe, scallions, cucumber and roast duck sauce. The whole set looks very rich when placed on the table. The roast duck has been pre-cut and served on the table, and is divided into duck skin, duck meat, thighs and wings. The roast duck has a sweet and crispy skin and a juicy and tender inside. The ingredients include sweet cantaloupe and exceptionally smooth avocado slices. If you like the aroma of basil, you can eat it in a wrap, which is particularly attractive. After eating the delicious roast duck, you will be greeted by the evil bandit pig liver for $178. It has a very domineering name and the taste is also full of wildness! The pork liver is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the taste is fresh and delicious. The green peppers served as a side dish are even more spicy and delicious, and the spiciness is rare! So I really like this bandit dish. Next comes the delicious fish. This is the steamed yellow croaker with Lao Gan Ma minced meat for $308. The yellow croaker is spicy and tasty with the sweet fish flavor due to the Lao Gan Ma minced meat and chili oil. It always makes people eat it bite after bite. Friends who love fish will never miss it. Home-cooked winter melon $108, cooked until soft and tender, with a salty and fresh taste. I think this cooking method tastes much better than braised ones. Next up is my most anticipated dish, the soy sauce crab edamame rice cake $598. This dish definitely showcases the rich Shanghai flavor! The green crab has firm meat and the rich sauce still cannot hide its sweet taste, but the star of this dish is definitely the chewy and chewy Shanghai rice cake. Even though I was already satisfied to a certain point, I still ate a lot! You can imagine how strong the flavor of this dish is. Finally, I couldn’t resist the dessert – the High Protein Red Bean Paste Banana. It was rich in protein aroma and not greasy at all. The sandy red bean filling and banana flesh inside tasted delicate, sweet and delicious. I couldn’t help but eat the whole thing and was very satisfied. The food at this Purple Magnolia restaurant really surprised me. The quality of the food was good and the price was very affordable.
