Inner Mongolia Tourism | The Centennial Station - Baita Railway Station, Reopened for a Limited Time After Years of Seclusion

Baita Railway Station, named after the adjacent 'Baita (Wanbu Huayan Jing Pagoda)', consists of the old station building, signal house, station master's office, and bunkers. The station building is embedded with a plaque inscribed by Chen Shiying, reading 'Baita Station PAITA'. The station was announced in 2019 as a 'National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit' of the eighth batch. The old site of Baita Railway Station was built in 1921 and was one of the 66 stations on the Pingsui Railway (now the Beijing-Baotou Railway). The Pingsui Railway was initiated in 1905 by the famous patriotic engineer Zhan Tianyou, who advocated, designed, and raised funds for its construction, making it China's first self-built railway. The Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway was completed in 1909, reached Fengzhen in 1915, and arrived in Guisui, now Hohhot, in May 1921. The entire line was opened on January 1, 1923. In 1977, due to a partial rerouting of the Beijing-Baotou Railway, the old Baita Railway Station was decommissioned and converted into an educational base for the Hohhot Railway Bureau. 🚄Location: Qianluojiaying Village, Bayan Street, Saihan District, Hohhot. 🚗Navigate to 'Baita Railway Station Old Site'. There are two roads when you are close; the main road is easier to travel, while the smaller road is bumpy as it passes through the village. Taking a taxi from Hohhot Airport is relatively convenient. 🎫Ticket: Free admission, ID card registration required at the entrance. Officially open in December 2023. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00-17:00. 📷Touring: Suitable for history enthusiasts, photography lovers, check-in photography, self-driving tours, and visiting Hohhot's Baita Pagoda. The scenic area is small, with a touring time of 15-30 minutes. Ideal for shooting retro and nostalgic style portraits, the small corners of the building can capture a sense of story.
