While battling the disease, she devoutly folded paper cranes every day, believing that as long as she folded a thousand of them, she would regain her health. In order to promote business, Hiroshima Prefecture built a product exhibition hall designed by Czech architect Jan Loesser. The project was undertaken by the Mukuda Group. The building is about 25 meters high. It was built with a neoclassical framework and Romanesque Revival style details, and is a mixed style building. The atomic bomb was located at the Aioi Bridge, right next to the Product Exhibition Hall. At the time of the explosion, the surface temperature reached 3,000 degrees. The area within a radius of two kilometers was almost completely destroyed. The brick, concrete, and steel structure of the three-story building was almost completely destroyed, but the dome did not collapse under the heat rays and shock waves. Today, the building is supported by a steel structure, serving as a historical mark of the scars of war. The Peace Park and Archives display the stories of the victims and remaining relics, reminding people of the importance of peace.
