Hiroshima City Flower Festival

The Hiroshima Flower Festival is a symbol of Golden Week in Hiroshima. Its history dates back to 1975 when the Hiroshima Carp baseball team won their first championship and celebrated with a victory parade through the city. Since the pandemic, this year marks the first May festival in five years, and it has been blessed with fine weather, resulting in a large turnout. The main venue is the Tower of Flowers in the Peace Memorial Park, but the festive mood is heightened by the numerous food stalls packed along the main roads. In the evening, the area becomes a pedestrian paradise, and walking on the road offers a taste of the extraordinary. However, caution is needed as there are often cars with license plates from outside the prefecture that get lost and enter the pedestrian zone.
