My visit to Himeji Castle during sakura season was like stepping into a fairy tale! The castle, with its stunning white walls, looked even more beautiful surrounded by soft pink cherry blossoms. Walking through the castle grounds, petals were gently falling like snow, creating a magical scene. I had so much fun taking photos of the castle framed by the blooming sakura trees. It felt like everywhere I turned, there was another perfect picture waiting. Climbing up to the top of the castle rewarded me with a breathtaking view of the entire area, covered in a sea of pink and white. People were having picnics under the trees, and the happy, festive atmosphere made everything even more special. The smooth texture of the soba combined with the spiciness of the daikon was delightful. Although it's located in a tranquil area, many people came to enjoy the soba. My first castle visit to Himeji Castle during my trip in Japan. There were so many levels in the Castle which you can explore, all the while learning about its history such as it's past occupants/families. Throughout the castle levels (especially at the top), I got to take in the beautiful scenery overseeing the castle's surrounding architecture and its gardens (including the city). Even the entrance and path leading up to the Castle are lined by cherry blossom trees in bloom during the spring period we visited. But if you love greenery/nature the Koko-en garden beside Himeji castle is also a must go with tranquil rivers and a colourful scene painted by a large array of plants and flowers 💮 Tickets are needed for both the castle and garden but can be purchased as a bundle. Just a word of caution, the steps as you traverse the Castle are quite steep and small so be careful as you try to climb them. #himeji #castle #history #garden #spring

This garden was constructed 30 years ago to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the foundation of HImeji municipality. It has a total of 9 different gardens. Although petite in size but this garden has all it needs. It has a tea house serving tea with a view of a large pond with numerous collections of Koi fishes. The gardens have different themes so that visitors can enjoy the different feeling of excitement. During autumn, the maple leaves will turn red whereby it provides a feeling of calamity and somber mood. On a spring morning, I arrived at Japan's famous Himeji Castle with great anticipation. Especially during the cherry blossom season, the scenery here is like a dream. Himeji Castle is known as the 'White Heron Castle,' and its pure white walls shine in the sunlight, forming a brilliant contrast with the blooming cherry blossoms around, as if one is in a fairytale castle. As I stepped into the castle, the first thing that caught my eye was the majestic five-story main keep. The exterior of the building is exquisite, with the curves of the roof elegantly spreading like the wings of a white heron. The castle's outer walls are meticulously constructed with high-quality white stone and wood, with a smooth surface that seems to reflect the surrounding scenery. The green tiles on the top of the castle and the white walls complement each other, giving the entire castle an elegant aura. Upon closer inspection, the intricate carvings under the eaves present a sense of historical depth, as if every detail is telling the glory of the samurai and the splendor of the castle. I strolled along the paths inside the castle, hearing the laughter and exclamations of tourists around me, all captivated by the beautiful scenery. I visited a bakery called 'Transistor Bakery' in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture! 📍 1019-332, Shosha, Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture The shop is pure white against the bright blue sky, and the interior is filled with cute and delicious-looking bread! When I arrived, there were no other customers, so the staff kindly told me to take as many photos as I wanted, and I did so without hesitation! It was an exciting bakery to choose from! There were many types of hard bread, and I took home croissants, bagels, canelés, cinnamon rolls, cheese and sweet potato bread, and matcha stollen!! I ate them after I got home, and they were all so delicious that I want to go back and buy more!

I went to Japan with a friend, and I didn't look at any guides, I just followed along. Himeji Castle wasn't part of the plan, but my friend heard that the maple leaves there were already red, so we went from Takamatsu to Okayama and then to Himeji Castle. Shoshazan Engyo-ji Temple is the filming location for the 2003 movie "The Last Samurai" starring Tom Cruise and the 2015 movie "The Assassin" directed by Hou Hsiao-hsien, which made this ancient temple known to the world. Shoshazan Engyo-ji Temple was founded by Shoku Shonin in 966. It takes less than 5 minutes to reach the temple by cable car from the foot of the mountain. Known as the "Mount Hiei of the West," the Maniden Hall enshrines the six-armed Nyoirin Kannon Bodhisattva, and it is said that the temple opens on January 18 every year for the Oni-oi (Demon Chasing) Festival. "Mani" is Sanskrit, and it is equivalent to the main hall of Engyo-ji Temple, which was built in the first year of the Tenroku era (970). It is said that before the temple was built, Shoku Shonin saw a celestial being worshiping a cherry tree, so he carved a statue of Kannon on the tree trunk with roots. He then built the Maniden Hall halfway up the mountain. The Maniden Hall is a stage-style building, using the "hanging construction method" technique, with giant wooden tenons fixed on the sloping columns. Although it looks top-heavy and precarious, it is precisely because of this that it generates a huge sense of awe, making people look up in admiration.
