Step into the time of history - a trip to Shigu Academy.

To the south of the famous Nanyue Hengshan Scenic Area is the Goose City of Hengyang. Shigu Academy is located in the north of the city where the Zheng, Xiang and Lei rivers converge. Step into the academy, into the historical time, and into the bustling crowd, what do they all need to know? What makes Shigu Academy shine in people’s minds is its ancient history. Shigu Academy was first built in 810. It is one of the important birthplaces of Hunan culture. It is regarded as one of the four great academies in ancient China along with Yuelu Academy. Therefore it is famous all over the world. However, the academy was repeatedly damaged by fire and war. What we see now is the one that was rebuilt in 2006. After the vicissitudes of history, all that remains of the academy today are the cliff carvings. It mainly exists on the rocks about 40 meters west of Shigu Mountain. There were 30 such sites from the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. Due to the age, the font is not very clear and it took a long time to find a few places. Then we came to Hejiang Tower. A poem titled "Two rivers in Shigu, a poem in Changli" appeared before my eyes. Climb up the Hejiang Tower and look out over the Xiangjiang River flowing northward.
