The St. Alekseyev Church in Harbin is an Eastern Orthodox church, built in 1931, and is a typical example of Russian architecture. After restoration in 1980, it was converted into a Catholic church. It is now the location of the Heilongjiang Catholic Patriotic Association, the Harbin Catholic Patriotic Association, and the Heilongjiang Catholic Affairs Committee. It is a protected cultural relic of Heilongjiang Province. Designed by the Russian architect Smirnov Tovtanovsky. The St. Alekseyev Church is a product of the Russo-Japanese War era, representing a classic example of Russian-style church architecture that emerged after shedding foreign influences. The building is structurally complex, with rich decorative lines and a red and white alternating facade. The entire building exudes rhythmic beauty, beauty of form, and beauty of color. The church is a typical example of Russian architecture, with a brick and wood structure, and a symmetrical cross-shaped layout on the ground plan, with the main entrance facing west. It has two floors; the upper floor is for religious activities, while the lower floor serves as the residence and workplace for bishops and priests.
