Hoa Phong Tower is a historical relic that can be seen while strolling around Hoan Kiem Lake, and it's a popular spot for tourists to take photos. It is labeled as a 'Japanese-style tower.' Originally, it was a Buddhist tower of Bao An Pagoda (in Vietnam, Buddhist temples are called pagodas, but the tower is derived from the Sanskrit word and is pronounced 'thap' in Vietnamese, similar to the Korean word '탑'). In the 1800s, during the French colonial period, the Bao An Pagoda near Hoan Kiem Lake was demolished to make way for the construction of a post office. The first floor of this three-story stone tower features arched doors representing four Buddhist themes, and the second floor is inscribed with Sanskrit symbols.
