Enjoy autumn foliage at Tove Jansson Akebono Children's Forest Park! Day 1 Tove Jansson Akebono Children's Forest Park is a 20-minute walk from Motokaji Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. Inspired by the world of Nordic fairy tales, this park features several buildings, including the Mushroom House and a Children's Theater. It's a free, nature-filled park. The trees are beautiful during the autumn foliage season, and the rows of metasequoia trees are especially pretty. Take the train to Hanno Station and hop on a bus to Moomin Valley Park, located on the shores of Lake Miyazawa in Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture. The park entrance, in the Beginning Cove area, features a welcome gate with a book motif. Four books feature silhouettes of characters like Moomintroll, Snufkin, and Moominmamma, making it a photogenic spot. After Moomin Valley Park, head to Miyazawako Onsen Kirari Bettei, located within walking distance of the park. It's open until 11pm and offers dining options. Afterward, take the train to Tokorozawa Station and stay at the Tokorozawa Park Hotel, a three-minute walk away. Day 2 From Tokorozawa Station, head to Kadokawa Musashino Museum and Tokorozawa Sakura Town. Higashi-Tokorozawa Station is a 20-minute bus ride from Tokorozawa. The Kadokawa Musashino Museum is located in a naturally lush area, a ten-minute walk from Higashi-Tokorozawa Station. Kadokawa Musashino Museum is a cultural complex with a completely new concept, operated by KADOKAWA. The facility is divided into areas, with entrances as follows: Manga & Light Novel Library This space allows readers to share and develop the worldview of "light novels and manga" created by KADOKAWA. It houses almost all of the KADOKAWA Group's light novels, as well as light novels from various publishers, making it the best library in Japan for light novels. Bookshelf Theater This space is surrounded by gigantic bookshelves approximately 8 meters high. KADOKAWA publications and private collections from the Kadokawa Gen'ichi Collection, Yamamoto Kenkichi Collection, Takeuchi Rizo Collection, and Tonoshima Moriyoshi Collection are all lined up under one roof. Projection mapping is also screened at certain times, creating a photogenic spot. Aramata Wonder Treasure Museum From the birth of life to the mechanical zoetrope, and from the condensed form of the Underkammer to the pinnacle of academic excellence, the diverse exhibits emphasize experiential exploration. Edit Town - Book Street Supervised by Seigo Matsuoka, this park features approximately 25,000 books arranged according to "nine contexts" for interpreting the world. To return, walk to the station and then take the train. Transportation Access by car is possible thanks to the ample parking, but it can get crowded during autumn foliage season. Public transportation is also possible. However, since it's a little far from the station, we recommend taking the bus. Notes Moomin Valley Park and Tove Jansson Akebono Children's Forest Park are outdoors, so they can be difficult to access in bad weather.
