The Amanfayun Hangzhou was originally the ancient Fayun Village, which was left over from the Tang Dynasty. The designer retained the original layout with the concept of "restoring the old as before." The earthen walls, rattan woven doors and windows, and bluestone paths are integrated with the surrounding tea gardens. The designer deliberately avoided using bright colors to allow the building to blend into the environment in its most simple state. The most distinctive feature is the stone road that runs through the entire village. This ancient road was once the only way for pilgrims to Lingyin Temple. Today, it still maintains its original texture and has a soft luster on rainy days. The basic room has an area of 66 square meters and adopts a "one bedroom and one living room" layout: the bedroom area is furnished with a canopy bed with curtains, while the living area has a window-side couch. The most commendable feature is the bathroom space: a deep copper bathtub is placed next to a stone shower room, and toiletries are stored in celadon containers. Some rooms retain the exposed wooden beams of the original building, matched with Belgian linen bedding and handmade rice paper lampshades. The one-Michelin-star restaurant specializes in "manor cuisine." The signature dish, spring water matsutake soup, needs to be stewed with Hupao spring water for 4 hours; the "steamed vegetable restaurant" restores the ancient method of the Southern Song Dynasty, and Longjing shrimp is picked and fried on the spot. Afternoon tea is ingeniously served in a multi-layer box, accompanied by Jiuqu Hongmei tea. Fayun House offers a combination of "ancient acupuncture + aromatherapy" treatments. The treatment room was converted from the Pharmacist Hall. Every morning, monks lead "walking meditation" along the ancient road, passing through the pagoda to the back mountain of Lingyin Temple. The spa center has created a unique "tea fumigation bath," which places Longjing tea leaves and sweet-scented osmanthus in the steam room. Lingyin Temple Feilai Peak is within walking distance, and Yongfu Temple is 15 minutes away. Two private routes are especially recommended: one is to go north along Fayun Lane, passing the Buddhist Academy to reach the sparsely populated Taoguang Temple; the other is to cross the bamboo forest to the southeast to reach Bai Le Bridge, which was built by Bai Juyi.
