Deshou Palace Site Museum: A Glimpse into Southern Song Dynasty's Imperial Heritage in Hangzhou

The Southern Song Dynasty De Shou Palace Ruins Museum is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. It is an important palace site in Lin'an City of the Southern Song Dynasty. The site witnessed the residence of emperors such as Song Gaozong and Song Xiaozong, and integrates palaces and gardens, representing the pinnacle of Jiangnan gardens. After its discovery in 1984, it has undergone four large-scale archaeological excavations. The construction of the museum began in December 2020, using archaeological sites and adopting a variety of display methods such as indoor display, digital display, and site simulation to fully display the history and culture of the Southern Song Dynasty. After nearly two years of construction, the De Shou Palace Ruins Museum will be open to the public in November 2022. The Museum of the Site of the Southern Song Dynasty’s Deshou Palace is situated in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It stands as an essential palace garden site within the city of Lin‘an residence during the Southern Song Dynasty.
