The former British Consulate of Hakodate, where the British flag has been flying for 75 years since the opening of Hakodate Port in 1859. The museum exhibits historical materials and related artifacts about the opening of Hakodate Port, and has a boutique selling goods from Britain. This two-story Western-style house is now a historical museum commemorating the opening of Hakodate Port. The on-site café offers English afternoon tea. If you have plenty of time, don't miss the freshly made snacks and exquisite English tea sets. There are combined tickets for the Old Public Hall of Hakodate, the Hakodate City Museum of Northern Peoples, the Hakodate City Museum of Literature, and the Former British Consulate in Hakodate. Tickets for a single museum are 300 yen, a combined ticket for 2 museums is 500 yen, a combined ticket for 3 museums is 720 yen, and a combined ticket for 4 museums is 840 yen (students and children are half price). If you want to visit all the museums, it is recommended to buy a pass.
