This is the best place for people-watching and feeling the city’s creative energy. I absolutely loved getting hands-on: made a shadow puppet. If you want to really connect with the city’s vibe, don’t miss these workshops — most run daily and open to walk-ins. Former residence of Zhimo Xu (No.38 Ganhe Street, Xiashi Town, Haining 314400, open daily 08:30–17:00) – Lit buffs, this spot’s for you. The museum offers a poetic deep-dive into one of China’s most famous writers—it’s a cool dose of inspiration, right where Zhimo Xu dreamed up his words. Before you leave, check out one of Haining’s mega leather and fur malls for shopping — seriously, it’s bargain galore, and the variety is wild. It's also worth to try hand making — we decorated a quirky hair clip, and even tried our hand at crafting a leather toy! Getting Around: Haining is super walkable and cabs are cheap—no car needed for these sights.
