Hello, everyone, I am Xiao Qiu, today I share with you the Red Stone Forest in Western Hunan The Red Stone Forest National Geopark is located in Guzhang County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province, situated at the central node of the Zhangjiajie-Fenghuang golden tourism corridor. It borders Yuanling County to the east, neighbors Luxi and Jishou counties to the south, and is bounded by the You River and Yongshun County to the north. It faces the famous Furong Town across the river. The rocks of the Red Stone Forest were formed about 450 million years ago and are red carbonate rock forests that have undergone a long geological formation. This area is known for its unique karst landforms, canyons, caves, lakes, springs, and waterfalls, and is of great geological research and aesthetic value. It is also located in the Cambrian Guzhangian stage, within the range of the 'Golden Spike' profile, and is one of the most precious geological relics in China and the world. The Red Stone Forest is a type of karst landform that is more commonly found in the provinces of Yunnan and Guizhou in China, but they are mostly grey rock forests. The Guzhang Red Stone Forest, with its 'red skin color', is the only one of its kind in the country and is currently the only red carbonate rock forest formed in the Cambrian period in the world. Here, you can witness the underwater wonders of 500 million years ago, touch the fossils of ancient creatures with your own hands, and truly feel the transformation of the sea into mulberry fields. It also belongs to the ancient Yangtze Sea, which is the largest and most typical Ordovician sedimentary stratum in the world.
