Peasant Movement Institute

The site of the Peasant Movement Institute, which was founded by Comrade Mao Zedong, was originally the Panyu Confucian Temple, which was built in 1370 (the third year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty). This magnificent ancient building is composed of the Lingxing Gate, Pan Pond Arch Bridge, Dacheng Gate, Dacheng Hall, Chongsheng Hall, and the side rooms and corridors from south to north. The Guangzhou Peasant Movement Institute held six sessions during the first cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China. The first five directors were Peng Pai, Luo Qiyuan, Ruan Xiaoxian, Tan Zhitang, and Peng Pai, and the site was located on Yuexiu South Road and Donggao Avenue. The sixth session was held here from May to September 1926, with Mao Zedong as the director and more than 20 people, including Zhou Enlai, Peng Pai, and Xiao Chunu, as teachers. A total of 327 students from 20 provinces and regions studied the theory and methods of the peasant movement, received strict military training, and participated in major social activities. After graduation, they went to all parts of the country to lead the peasants in the anti-imperialist and anti-feudal struggle, making great contributions to the Chinese revolution. In 1953, a memorial hall was established here, and Zhou Enlai inscribed the site. In 1961, the State Council announced that the "Site of the Guangzhou Peasant Movement Institute" was a national key cultural relic protection unit. The director's office, academic affairs department, military training department, etc., were all arranged according to their original appearance, and the history of the Peasant Movement Institute and temporary exhibitions were also displayed. ❤Recommended reason: National key cultural relic protection unit National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base National Red Tourism Classic Scenic Spot 🕙Opening hours: 9:00 am–5:30 pm (last entry at 5:00 pm) Closed on Mondays 💰Average cost: Free, no reservation required 🚉Transportation guide: Subway: Line 1, exit C of Peasant Movement Institute Station Bus: Peasant Movement Institute No. 1 Station: No. 1, No. 76, No. 93, No. 211, No. 864, Millennium Ancient City Line 📍Detailed address: No. 42, Zhongshan 4th Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou
