Guangzhou has its own West Lake. Spend an hour here and you'll feel great for the rest of the day. This is the most popular lakeside park in downtown Guangzhou. You can cycle, hike, climb, boat, and camp here. It's the backyard of the people of Yuexiu District. The park is beautiful all year round. A simple walk will make you feel great. Here's a simple and essential lakeside route for you. Luhu Park is famous for its bald cypress trees and the Honghu Tower. You can see both on this route. Take a taxi from Exit C of Xiaobei Station to Jufang Garden. A kapok tree in the garden is in full bloom. You can picnic and camp on the large green lawn under the tree and enjoy the autumn scenery. Head towards Zhiyi Garden. After a 10-minute climb, you'll reach the top of Honghu Tower, where you can enjoy a 360-degree view of Guangzhou. The view is even more beautiful at sunset. Head from Jufang Garden towards Baiyun Mountain along the Cloud Path. Pass the waterside pavilion on the lake and admire the bald cypress trees along the lake. The trees are tall and dense, like a small forest. This section takes 1.5 hours to visit from sunset to nightfall. Follow the Cloud Path to the end and you'll reach Yuntai Garden and the south gate of Baiyun Mountain. You can take a cable car up the mountain. If you don't want to go to Baiyun Mountain, you can try the Vietnamese restaurant Yueya at Xiaobei. I haven't had such a surprising Vietnamese meal in a long time.
