A Po Liu Village in Conghua is the highest natural village in Guangzhou, with an altitude of about 730 meters. The high terrain, good transparency, and low light pollution make it one of the best stargazing spots in Guangzhou. A Po Liu Tea Garden covers an area of 18 hectares and is home to more than 600 varieties and nearly 40,000 camellias from home and abroad. From November to April of the following year is the best time to enjoy the camellias, which are red, white, and pink. We went in mid-November, and the camellias currently in bloom are mainly red varieties. Dozens of red camellias are in full bloom, and the fallen camellias are too many to pick up. Next month, yellow and white camellias will bloom, and we will come back then. There is a campsite on the top of the mountain, which costs CNY 50 on weekdays and CNY 100 on weekends. There are many stars in the autumn and winter evenings, and you may even be able to photograph the Milky Way if you are lucky. The homestays above are cheap, generally around CNY 150–200, and there is also a better-decorated one called He Yuan, which costs about CNY 400. Hike from A Po Liu Village to Xitou Village, the most beautiful village in Guangdong. The one-way distance is 6.5 km, and the whole journey is relatively easy, with beautiful scenery along the way. Don't forget to bring a few buckets to collect spring water, which is much purer than bottled mineral water.
