Wuxian Temple and Lingnan First Tower.

Wuxian Temple is located on Huifu West Road in Yuexiu District. Wuxian Temple is a grain god temple dedicated to the Five Immortals. It has been relocated and rebuilt many times, and was relocated to its current site in the 10th year of the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty (1377). Wuxian Temple has a history of more than 600 years. After a period of restoration, it is finally officially open to the public as a niche travel destination. Behind the main hall of Wuxian Temple is Lingnan First Tower, also known as the Forbidden Bell Tower, which was first built by Wang Guangyang, the provincial official, in the 7th year of the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty (1374) and rebuilt during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (1736–1795). The first gate, the main hall, and the "Xianren Muji" pool on the east side of Wuxian Temple are still preserved. On the original red sandstone on the east side of the main hall, there is a footprint-shaped depression, which is said to be the footprint of an immortal, and there is a stone plaque of "Xianren Muji" next to it. There are 14 stone inscriptions from the Song to Qing dynasties and a pair of stone kylins preserved in Wuxian Temple. Lingnan First Tower, commonly known as the Forbidden Bell Tower, is located behind the main hall of Wuxian Temple. It is a city wall-style building. Qu Dajun, one of the "Three Great Masters of Lingnan" in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, referred to it as one of the "Four Great Towers" along with Zhenhai Tower, Haishan Tower, and Gongbei Tower in his book "Guangdong Xinyu". A large bronze bell from the Ming Dynasty hangs in the center of the second floor. It is 3.04 meters high and has a diameter of 2.1 meters. It is the largest and most complete ancient bronze bell in Guangdong Province. This bell is used to summon help in case of fire or other emergencies, and is forbidden to be struck without cause, hence the name "Forbidden Bell". Wuxian Temple has a long history, and the Five Immortals worshipped in the temple are closely related to the origin of the names "Yangcheng" and "Suicheng" in Guangzhou, and are evidence of the legend of Yangcheng, with profound cultural connotations. Wuxian Temple and Lingnan First Tower are important ancient architectural relics in the urban area of Guangzhou, and their architectural style has typical Lingnan architectural features. The carvings and murals in the temple show superb art. In addition to the restoration of Wuxian Temple and Lingnan First Tower, the gardens and buildings next to them have also been renovated and upgraded, with the newly built "Ziyan Pavilion" and "Xianlin Garden". Transportation: Take the subway to [Haizhu Square Station] or [Gongyuanqian Station] Exit J or [Ximenkou Station], and walk for about 10 minutes. No ticket required, no reservation required for now. Opening hours: 9:00–17:00 (closed on Mondays)
