Xiaozhou Village

Xiaozhou Village, formerly known as "Yingzhou", is a natural village under the jurisdiction of Huazhou Street in Haizhu District, Guangzhou City. Located in the southeast of Haizhu District, surrounded by water on all sides, it resembles a small island and is a traditional village in China. Xiaozhou Village was established during the Yuan Dynasty. In the early Ming Dynasty, the Jian family migrated from Xinxiang, Henan to Xiaozhou Village and has been living there ever since. Xiaozhou Village retains a complete water town layout and enjoys the reputation of "Zhouzhuang in the north, Yingzhou in the south." The village has numerous immovable cultural heritages, including the Tianhou Palace, Yuxu Palace, ancient bridges, Dengyang ancient wharf, and the "oyster shell houses" unique to the Lingnan water network area, all of which reflect the historical evidence of the village's water-based material sourcing at the mouth of the Pearl River. After the rain, the green stone slabs further highlight the village's simple and ancient atmosphere.
