The Crowne Plaza in Guangzhou: Old but still recommended!

This Crowne Plaza located in the Yuexiu District is one of the older hotels in Guangzhou. With the recent surge in hotel bookings in the city, this one is still acceptable, so I booked two nights for 5000 points. Despite its age, the basic maintenance of the hardware and the facilities like the ceiling height are quite good. Probably because it was busy, the front desk staff didn't tell me what time breakfast was, but of course, the essential upgrades and drink vouchers were not forgotten. A highlight of this hotel is the hot soup they deliver. I found a bitter gourd and pork rib soup in my room at night, which was actually quite delicious. The Crowne Club is also a good place for members with 40N status to save money, and it's perfect for someone with social anxiety like me who prefers to have breakfast quietly. Of course, the food is very average, so I'm considering checking out the breakfast downstairs tomorrow. Compared to other hotels of the same level in the group, Crowne Plaza always seems to be a bit lacking. Not to mention comparing it with Grand Hyatt or Conrad, even compared to the somewhat older Sofitels in China, except for a few 2.0 versions, it doesn't have much of an advantage. So for InterContinental members, perhaps the most classic choices are still the top-tier InterContinental and Regent, as well as the lower-tier HIX.
