Lourdes Cathedral

The Lourdes Catholic Church belongs to the buildings in the French Concession, originally named Shamian Catholic Church, named after the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes placed on the original Mount of the Virgin in the south of the church garden. It was set up for the religious life of the parishioners of the French Consulate in Guangzhou. The church is located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Shamian Street and Shamian First Street. It consists of the main hall, the priest's building, the nun's building, and the Mount of the Virgin. The main hall is in the front, the priest's building is in the back and slightly to the east, the nun's building is in the back and slightly to the west, and the Mount of the Virgin is slightly to the east of the main hall. The church is basically well preserved. The spires of the main doors and windows on the facade, the small spires at the four corners of the tower, the complex skylights and battlements on the octagonal spire, and the continuous small pointed arches and buttresses that are dusted from top to bottom. Reflect the mysterious and yearning for 'heaven' characteristics of the Catholic Church.
