It is the most distinctive one in the Catholic Diocese of Guangzhou, one of the most magnificent twin-spire Gothic buildings in existence in China, and one of the four all-stone Gothic church buildings in the world. Because the entire church is built with granite, it is also commonly known as the "Stone Chamber".
