Bruce Lee's ancestral home is located at No. 13, Yongqing Lane 1, Enning Road. It was built in the 1940s by Li Haiquan, the father of Bruce Lee, one of the "Four Famous Clowns" of Cantonese opera. After Li Haiquan moved to Hong Kong, he rented out the house. In 1978, the descendants of the Li family took back the property rights. Bruce Lee's ancestral home is located within the campus of Peizheng Primary School. Its dilapidated appearance is inconspicuous. It faces south and north, is three stories deep, about 8 meters wide and 21 meters deep, covers an area of ​​more than 200 square meters, and has a construction area of ​​about 400 square meters. The Liwan District Government plans to restore it to its original appearance and develop it into a Bruce Lee Ancestral Home Memorial Hall and a Medical and Martial Arts Hall. The main body of the house is well preserved, but the decorative components inside the house are basically gone. The house was built during the Republic of China period. Bruce Lee's father, Lee Hoi-chuen, once lived here in his early years. Bruce Lee also lived here for a short period of time when he was a teenager. Later, he moved to Hong Kong with his father and rented out the house. The house was rented out by the Housing Management Station during the Cultural Revolution. In 1978, Li Haiquan's descendants took back the property rights and put the house under the management of the Housing Management Station. In the 1990s, when Xiguan Peizheng Primary School was acquiring land for expansion, the government discovered that this house was the property of Bruce Lee's father, Lee Hoi-chuen, and proposed a protection plan at that time. Before 2007, the place was inhabited and managed. When all the residents moved out, weeds grew everywhere and snakes appeared frequently. Currently, the southeast exterior wall of the house is connected to the school wall, and the building is surrounded by the school. The Liwan District Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and Television said that the house was private property and the owner had moved overseas for many years. No one lived there and the doors and windows were locked, posing certain hidden dangers. If repairs and maintenance are required, they must be based on the relevant provisions of Chapter 2 "Immovable Cultural Relics" of the "Cultural Relics Protection Law" and follow the principle of not changing the original state of the cultural relics. The owner must apply to the Liwan District Cultural Relics Administrative Department and repairs will be carried out after approval.
