Yili: The Green Jewel of Xinjiang

#springitinerary Yili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture (伊犁哈萨克自治州), also known as Ili, is a unique autonomous region in the northwest of Xinjiang, China. It is the only Kazakh autonomous prefecture in China, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Kazakh people. The capital city is Yining (Ghulja), situated in the Ili River Valley. Covering an area of approximately 268,591 square kilometers, Yili accounts for about 16.18% of Xinjiang's total area.
