2024 Gansu-Qinghai Trip: Mogao Caves and the Western Thousand Buddha Caves

The Western Thousand Buddha Caves are considered the first stop of the journey, while the Mogao Caves are the last stop (in reality, the Dunhuang Film Studio is the first stop, and the Crescent Lake is the last stop). The Mogao Caves, truly world-renowned, are stunning. Viewing the exterior photos of the exhibition hall, one can't help but be amazed by the large-scale grottoes. The artistic cultivation and the power of faith of the ancients are indeed unparalleled by any successors. As an individual traveler, even booking a week in advance, I could only get emergency tickets (which allow viewing of only 4 caves). I marveled at the artistry and lamented the damage and destruction; out of hundreds of caves, only a few are accessible. Fortunately, the exhibition hall makes up for this regret, allowing a closer look at the historical treasures. The cultural and creative product I acquired, 'Lele the Great King,' perfectly complements the 'Forbidden City Cats and Dunhuang Dogs.' Similarly, the Western Thousand Buddha Caves, slightly less visited, offer a tour of four caves that is no less impressive. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed, not even without flash...
