Gongcheng Confucius Temple, Guangxi.

Gongcheng Confucius Temple, also known as Kong Temple and Xuegong, is a temple commemorating Confucius, an outstanding educator and thinker in ancient China. It is one of the most complete Confucius temples in Guangxi and one of the four major Confucius temples in the country. The Confucius Temple was built in the eighth year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1410) and has a history of more than 600 years. The Confucius Temple covers an area of 3,600 square meters and a building area of 1,300 square meters. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit. The architectural layout of Gongcheng Confucius Temple is rigorous, facing south to the north, built along the mountain, arranged in layers, and appears solemn. The main buildings include Zhaobi, Limen, Yilumen, Lingxingmen, Pan Pool, Zhuangyuan Bridge, Dachengmen, Dacheng Hall, Chongsheng Temple, etc. These buildings run through a central axis, symmetrical on the left and right, and clear in levels. Lingxingmen is built with large bluestone, and the eaves and Minglou are carved with auspicious decorations, which are majestic. Dacheng Hall is the main building of the Confucius Temple. It is five rooms wide and three rooms deep. It has brick columns, wooden columns, doors, windows, and eaves decorated with wood carvings. The roof has high flying eaves, double eaves and mountain rests, ridge decorations, clay sculptures and paintings, glazed tile covers, and golden brilliance. There are also plaques written by Emperor Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong, and Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty in the Confucius Temple. The entire building is strictly designed and built in accordance with the theory of ancient Chinese geomancy, which not only has the philosophy of traditional Chinese Yi learning, but also maintains the local characteristics of Lingnan ancient architecture.
