Basum Tso, the Mother of All Lakes

Basum Tso, located in Nyingchi, is known as the Mother of All Lakes. In Tibetan, it is called "Zhasong Tso," which translates to "Three Rock Lake." Many people also translate it as "Green Lake." Locals regard it as the sacred lake of Guru Rinpoche. The lake is entirely green, and there is an island in the middle of the lake. I didn't pay attention to the name of the temple on the island at the time. There are three mountains by the lake, which are translated into Chinese as "Goddess Peak," "King's Throne," and "Burning Flame." Due to their location, these three mountains are the best peaks to view the golden mountain scenery at sunrise. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to see it. However, you must book a hotel in the scenic area to drive into the scenic area. If you don't book a hotel, you can only take a bus at the distribution center. Ticket: CNY 150 per ticket Route: Depart from Lhasa and head towards Nyingchi on the Yaye Expressway. Exit the expressway near Langse Village and continue along Minzu Road to reach the destination. No border pass is required. You need an ID card to buy tickets, and you also need an ID card to buy tickets for the boat in the center of the lake. When there are many tourists, there is a boat every half an hour. When there are fewer tourists, the boat will only depart when there are about eight people.
