Gero Onsen (Part 2)

Maybe not quite used to sleeping on the floor, I didn't sleep very well last night. But the enchanting morning mist among the mountains of Gero easily wakes one up. A shallow, stone-filled river flows through the town. At the end of August, the river water is icy cold. Many people wade in the water, fish, and occasionally enjoy the hot spring water that emerges, sitting around stone stools for a foot bath. The mascot of Gero is a frog, and frog-related items can be seen everywhere here. Frog pudding, frog buns, manhole covers with frog designs, and even a frog shrine. Another pleasant sound in Gero is the JR train that passes over the creek from time to time, as if bidding farewell to departing travelers. Next stop, Takayama.
