Breakfast and Brunch at Sarapan@7am, Penang

#summervacay We had a hearty brunch at Sarapan@7am along Jalan Muntri in Penang during our trip there recently, and I’m so glad we did. It shares the same space with Emily’s Steakhouse, but in the first half of the day (7am - 3pm), it turns into a cosy local breakfast spot. I tried their nasi lemak and roti kukus with homemade kaya — simple, comforting, and full of flavour. The rice was fragrant and sotong was deliciously fried. The kaya was not too sweet, just the way I like it. They’ve also got wantan mee, roti jala, cucur udang and a few other local favourites on the menu. If you’re there after 11am, you can even order steaks and Western dishes from Emily’s menu — quite convenient if you’re dining with people who prefer something different. They are currently running a Super Value Meal of Angus beefsteak, that comes with onion rings, soup of the day and iced lemon tea. The place has a nice vibe with some photo-worthy corners, making it great for brunch catch-ups or small celebrations.
