Old port of Genova

It’s Genoa’s old port area that was totally redesigned in the ’90s by architect Renzo Piano, and now it’s a big open space right by the water with a mix of modern stuff and historical touches. There’s a wide promenade where you can walk along the waterfront, sit by the sea, or just take in the views of the marina and the city behind it. It’s also where you’ll find the famous Genoa Aquarium, the Bigo panoramic lift, and a few museums, but even if you’re not going into any attractions, it’s still a good place to wander. The vibe here is relaxed, especially in the evening when locals come out for a walk or an aperitivo. There are restaurants and cafés with outdoor seating where you can grab a drink or something to eat while watching the harbor. It’s definitely more modern than the rest of the historic center, but it fits well and gives you a different feel for the city.
