A huge block of ice

This is the Tasman Glacier in Mount Cook, New Zealand! I think the Tasman Glacier may have been mentioned briefly in elementary school textbooks. I had forgotten everything about it until I went to the Tasman Glacier 😅 The Tasman Glacier is formed by snow piling up on the powdery ice field at an altitude of 2,300 meters! It is said that the deepest part of the Tasman Glacier is about 3 million years old! I have included a photo of the glacier, and it is very transparent, with air bubbles in it. The glacier floating now is relatively new, but it was created decades or hundreds of years ago! The floating part of the glacier is only a small part, and the part in the lake is actually very large! The glacier in the photo was very large, so I think there is probably something huge submerged in the lake! To go to the Tasman Glacier, I recommend signing up for a glacier tour from the hotel before going to Mount Cook! Apparently you can see it by climbing the mountain, but you'll definitely be overwhelmed if you get close, so I recommend a tour ☺️ #New Zealand #Furitabee #Mount Cook #Tasman Glacier
